Just finished 4 weeks straight (no days off) making the music for a new Greenpeace documentary directed by Nick Broomfield and set to go viral on the Greenpeace site and launched in conjunction with The Observer/Guardian films in the Sunday paper of 31st May. It includes a new song" Mayday" (a meditation on legitimate street protest - in the light of the recent G.20 and climate camp crackdowns) which is available as a free download from The Observer website. It was recorded over the May bank holiday weekend and I was aided and abetted in this venture by the mighty backing vocals and backwards guitar of David Gilmour, the pounding bass of Mr.Guy Pratt, the soaring/ecstatic viola and electric violin playing of Ben Coleman and the Glamrock one man marching band that is Peter Reyland. It was all mixed by long time sonic collaborator Steve McLaughlin. Please check it out at www.greenpeace.org.uk- the film is powerful, crucial viewing - if you value your rights in today's crazy, fast disintegrating world. New music from Nick Laird-Clowes will be available here from June 2009. If you'd like to receive updates about Nick Laird-Clowes, please join the mailing list. |
